Project Overview

St Mochtas National School is a 32 class primary school serving St. Mochta’s Roman Catholic Parish of Porterstown / Clonsilla. COADY designed a new school building, integrating the original 1963 Boyd Barrett ‘White School’, which had heritage significance in the village of Clonsilla, replacing the former 16 class school building and 16 classes in pre-fab structures.

The new school is designed with single storey pavilions on either side of the White School, complementing its scale and forming a new entrance. The pavilions accommodate administration offices, General Purpose hall and Library resource, enclosing a small learning courtyard with the two storey classroom wings that enclose the larger play area to the rear. Classrooms are grouped to reflect the school’s four streams, colour coded to reflect each age.
