Project Overview

The project involved 20 new 1, 2 and 3 bed social houses arranged around a well landscaped  public space. The key visual boundary walls are made of Wicklow granite stone, kept low with well detailed metal railings  present an attractive and robust definition to public and private spaces . The large fenestration to the living areas and front elevations permit  increased views of the public landscape areas and afford a sense of  visual connection between residents.

Purpose built Feature Walls which includes acoustic insulation are provided in the Living Rooms for all entertainment connectivity  whilst also providing a focal point to replace the conventional fireplace. Useable attic space for storage was provided which included safety rails and upstands at the edges.

The buildings achieve a BER of A3 using air to water heat pumps and an average airtight rating of  below 2 m3/hr/m2 @50Pa.  Demand controlled ventilation  provides whole house ventilation resulting in  good indoor air quality. A  number of the material specifications were selected based on their Environmental Product Declarations

Special attention was given to planting native species and fruit bearing species as well as herb beds to encourage biodiversity and cooking   with the herb bed adjacent to bins store helping to mitigate smells.
