Project Overview
COADY Architects are part of an Aecom led multi-disciplinary team appointed by Limerick 2030 for the redevelopment of the Opera site in Limerick City. COADY acted as Architectural Master Planner for the development of the whole site and Architect for the design of a 14,100 sq.m office building to Section 175 Planning Application to An Bord Pleanala.
The 2.35ha (5.8 acre) Opera Site is located at the northern edge of the City’s core commercial area. The completed development is projected to accommodate approximately 53,000sq.m (576,200sq.f) of building accommodation.
The development will provide a vibrant transformation of this city block, providing substantial new large floor office space, a new city library, an aparthotel, apartments with ground floor restaurant and retail use, all integrated with refurbished existing Georgian structures on the site.
The new buildings are designed to be highly sustainable and achieve Nearly Zero Energy Building (nZEB) energy standards.
