The Kenmare Residential Healthcare Unit is planned over two levels, nestled into a hillside on the site of the existing community hospital.

The arrival forecourt welcomes visitors with its paved areas and large canopy providing shelter for ambulances.  The double height entrance foyer, with its open stairs and mezzanine, gives access to one ‘household’ on ground floor level and two “households” on the first floor level and to the central administration, therapy, medical and treatment spaces.

The foyer is visually linked to the social hubs of the adjoining households through glazed screens.  These are simply planned with bed, recreation and quiet rooms for residents opening to courtyards and enclosed gardens from each household.
