Project Overview

The Project consisted of the construction of an 4,315SQM extension to the existing school building over one and part two storeys, a newly configured approach avenue with bus turning circle, additional car parking, set down & hard play areas with associated other external works / hard and soft landscaping.

The new school is planned over two storeys with accommodation arranged around a large, central, landscaped court.  A generous, naturally lit, GP area is located immediately inside the entrance, with a full height glazed screens opening to the courtyard space. Open galleries at intervals along circulation routes irrigate the concourse with natural light and ventilation: access to workshops crosses the courtyard along an open covered way.

All classrooms are generously lit and naturally ventilated, and have views to the landscape setting and central courtyard.  Walls are generally of self-finished block, contrasted with hardwood screens and panels, and brightly coloured laminated doors and floor finishes.

The works also involved extensive refurbishment works to the existing school building including complete strip out and upgrade of the Mechanical & Electrical installation and fabric of the building including – floor, walls, ceiling, door, joinery, fitted furniture and upgrading of fire sealing to meet current standards.
