As part of our ongoing commitment to the COADY Charter and the RIAI Climate Challenge, this month we’re focusing on Circularity — designing for longevity, adaptability, and minimal waste. At COADY Architects, we see circularity not just as a sustainability principle, but as a design mindset. It starts with a simple message, USE LESS STUFF!  We are working hard to embrace the 3 core principles of sustainable design:

1. eliminate waste and pollution
2. circulate products and materials
3. and regenerate nature

Through case studies like Mary’s Mansions, Ellis Court, Drive 0 and Project Opera, we’re applying circular principles in real-world projects — embedding systemic change to building methods which enable modularity, disassembly, flexibility, accessibility and the retention and re-use existing buildings where possible.

We’re also working internally to embed circular thinking into our design reviews, CPDs, and specifications – because a circular future begins with design.
