
Children’s Health Ireland Opening at Tallaght

A major milestone achieved for Children’s Health Ireland with the handover of the 4,600 sqm Paediatric Outpatient and Emergency Care Centre, CHI at Tallaght with the facility now open to receive patients.
CHI at Tallaght will provide emergency care and outpatient services to children and young people from Dublin South West, South City and the surrounding areas of Kildare and Wicklow.
This is a further significant milestone for the new National Children’s Hospital development following the opening of Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) at Connolly in Blanchardstown in July 2019.
COADY Architects are delighted to have been part of this new, state of the art paediatric outpatient and urgent care facility for Children’s Health Ireland.
The Paediatric Outpatient and Urgent Care Centres at Tallaght University Hospital and in Connolly Hospital are major milestones in the new children’s hospital project, the most significant investment in healthcare ever undertaken by the State. It will have an impact on children, young people, their families and staff for future generations to come.
Key elements of the national paediatric model of care for the benefit of patients by bringing fast, convenient, quality care close to their home, as is clinically appropriate will be implemented in this new facility, services include Urgent Care, Outpatients, Imaging and a Dental department.
The 2 sites are fully integrated with the existing buildings while benefiting from separate entrances. The design reflects a state-of-the-art approach to providing a welcoming, child friendly acute care environment with integrated parent support areas and bright, colourful interiors.
