Barracksfield West, Devoy Barracks, Naas, Co Kildare is a mixed residential development by the Land Development Agency, as part of their objective to deliver affordable housing on state lands. The design by COADY Architects in partnership with MCORM Architects, provides 219 dwellings in a mix of houses, duplex’s and apartments, achieving a density in excess of 50uph, with a generous public realm. The design challenge was to design affordable housing that is commercially viable and achieves an appropriate density for a successful planning.

The project has commenced on site, with Andrews Construction, the first blocks of houses emerging as the scaffold is removed. The project is being delivered to achieve Home Performance Index (HPI) Certification, the national sustainability quality accreditation by the Irish Green Building Council (IGBC).
